2005 - A lesson teaching year.

Bad experiences, good experiences, great expectations, total failures, small satisfaction, long lasting thirsts, exciting moments, unforgettable waves, . . . all were randomized in this year 2005.

My heart experienced 0 to 100 beats randomly. I really say it is an unfavorable year. Or it may be like this: I had expectations, But it happened as it was.

During the earlier days of the year, I remember that I worked hard only during some days. I didn't know that all the work would go to bin. I gradually stopped working. I felt myself that I was weak at many times.

Mid of the year gave me very very bad experiences. Many times I noted that my hands were shivering. That time, I wished to go out of every thing. May be to Himalayas. Or may be to somewhere apart that. I was feeling those days may be the ends.

I wasn't get released from all such till now. I know that. But, I dont remember that.

Time gave me titles like 'Sir' and 'S/w Enginner'. I dont understand the terms that they meant for.

If I could describe my behaviour during these age, I would say that I was a rebel through out the year.

But, no big things the rebellion achieved except the mental torture.

This year too seems the same. I am not sure of anything.

What is the theme of next year? --

Yes, "The rebellion".

Be what you want to be;

Do what you want to do;
You have life, thats once;
Dont know its length.
So, be what you want to be."

Now a days I believe a lot in it.

Intel Pentium (M) Processor Vs. Centrino

I googled this thread, seems useful. These links are pretty useful.

http://groups.google.co.in/group/comp.sys.laptops/browse_thread/thread/3b6b0033f7c0a046/8963b135bcfee3a6?lnk=st&q=intel+(M)+processor+Vs+centrino&rnum=1&hl=en#8963b135bcfee3a6

http://www.intel.com/products/processor/pentiumm/index.htm

=========================

Before I go any further in my search for a new laptop (see below "is this too much to ask for"). I would like to ask: 1) Is the Intel Mobile Pentium-M the same processor as in the Intel Centrino package?

Centrino laptops are Pentium-M powered.

Just not with the wireless capabilities of the Centrino?

Correct. Centrino is a Pentium-M with "approved" wifi adapter.

My concern, will I get the same battery power from Mobile Pentium-M as I do with the Centrino?

A Centrino is not a processor. It is a Pentium-M with a Intel PRO/Wireless adapter on the i855 chipset. So yes, you will get the same battery life from a Pentium-M as you would from a Pentium-M. 2)

Also I sometimes see stuff like this: Intel Pentium M Processor 755. What's the deal with the 755?

And then they say it's eqivalent to a 2 GHz Processor. Intel has finally gotten away from the processor speed rating. With technological advances, slower (clock speed) processors can now handily ouperform their faster "competition". The 755 is not equivalent to, but is a 2GHz processor. It will handily outperform a P4 2GHz though most of the time. Think of it like your car. You can turn your engine at 3000RPM in 3rd gear and not go as fast and get worse mileage than you would in 4th gear. The engine works just as hard, but doesn't get the same amount of work done per revolution in the end.

The War - (19th Dec2005 - 20 th Dec 2005)

I am not telling about a very old age story. All I am telling about is a a mini war lasted between me and Sun App server 1.4 . As I have very strong beliefs in Head First series, I tried the first example given in Head First EJB.

The authors recommended to use 1.3 version of j2eesdk. As I am an usual face to 1.4 java family and thier cousins, I downloaded j2eesdk 1.4 with long effort.

When, I was trying to execute that EJB example, that Sun App server gave a me a big slap... . It said that the reason was it was not able to get some thing. It was still angry with me. So, I left for yesterday.

At to morning I went to meet google directly, and reported him the fight between me and Sun server. Google pacified me,

"Easy lad; I will send some black-belts with you to meet that Sun server guy".

But, that ruthless Sun server killed all the belted-guys one by one!! I was the single to escape!

Then, I was walking along www to find anyone, who can defeat that Sun server. All the way on the road, people said that he was fat-old guy and no body knews the tactics to defeat him.

Hmm... Atlast google came that side. He saw me was sitting life-less. He came to me and said, it was still possible. He got me up and took me into deep searching.

We have long preparations to make for the big war tomorrow.

See you tomorrow.

We all end up dead; it's just a question of how and why.

(The out-standing dialouge from braveheart. I like it much and like pasting it.)

Robert: Wait! I respect what you said, but remember that these menhave lands and castles. It's much to risk.

William: And the common man who bleeds on the battlefield, does herisk less?

Robert: No, but from top to bottom this country has no sense of itself. Its nobles share allegiance with England. Its clans war with eachother. If you make enemies on both sides of the border, you'll end updead.

William: We all end up dead; it's just a question of how and why.

Robert: I'm not a coward. I want what you want, but we need thenobles.

William: We need them?

Robert: Aye.

William: Nobles. Now tell me, what does that mean to be noble?Your title gives you claim to the throne of our country, but mendon't follow titles, they follow courage. Now our people know you.Noble, and common, they respect you. And if you would just leadthem to freedom, they'd follow you. And so would I.

God's toss.

I often toss a coin on taking decision. Some times, it gives me favourable flower. Many times, it simply kicks back. Whatever I declare as my decision, that is preferably ok for me.

Some times, when hitting the other coin, I do argue, whip...at last realize his decision is the best, just like a desd-end.

This time also he plans some thing....(thats totally favour me?!) which I do think on the same.

Let me watch him what thinks.

Sun Certified Java Programmer ( 91% )

Yesterday, I was feeling feverish. So, once again I postponded the exam schedule. Today I felt myself ok.

Morning went to NIIT . I registered for the exam. He asked which slot I want. I said, "This moment; Better if it is this second."

He just looked at my face strange and allotted a slot for me at this morning. After paying 7200 INR, he verified all the formolities and said that I could take up the exam.

Sat before the screen and answered to Sun's survey. I choose 'moderate' level for 'Thread' and 'Collection' sections.

Then, exam stared and the timer started counting down from 120 minutes.

I finished answering with in 83 minutes.

Atlast, I got 56 correct answers out of 61. So. My score is: 91% (Doesnt look a good number? :)

As Sun's says, now I am a "Sun certified Java Programmer"

define:Rain

I understood what the term does mean. Also, how it gives the effect together with the term 'cyclone'. I got up at morning 6.15 and looked at window. There was blowing a 'boo' sound with strong wind. I realized the temperature came down very much.

I didnt think to comeout. But, came out took bath and got ready to office. Later, was informed it was declared holiday. Morning, was hungry and thought to have break-fast. But, didnt have that much dare to comeout in chil rain.

I was waiting it to stop. It is now 11AM. It was still playing. Clock turned 12.30. Then I was so hungry. But cannot have break-fast at this time. So, decided to have lunch atleast.

Now, still see raining! Atleast I can have something....to live for today. I decided and gotup. I went out of house and looked the street. Streets were being transformed into 'Streams'. I looked roads. I dont have that much eye power to distinguis where was hole and where was way.

I saw no buses. And realized one of my roommate went office two days back and not yet returned. I called him and he said he would feel safe to stay there.

I went inside a bakery and had some bun, bred and coffee (Rain only properly teach us US culture). Then returned to room and realized my charge indicator in cellphone was showing the last point. There was not ppwer in home at all.

I dont know what to do. Still it was frightening me.

Morning saw sunlight and now taking easy breath.

Google Bomb - SEO trick!

I many times bursted the bomb long long ago without knowing thats what I was doing. Today, I got the terminology.

People now hotly discuss why the word 'failure' or 'miserable' failure in google's I'm feeling lucky takes to George Bush's Biography page at Whitehouse.

I think, this link will help in getting deeply about 'Google Bomb'

http://www.microcontentnews.com/articles/googlebombs.htm

How does it work?

When many people associate a word with a link, the search engines consider that the word has more relevance with the link. So, the link is ranked highly for the word - it means, when you search for the word, the particular link will appear on top.

As many people associated the word 'failure' with Whitehouse website, the search engines ranked Whitehouse website to appear on top, when people search for failure!

Also, note that this is one of the optimization trick to gain more results on search engines!

Coding Standards (of Java)

Writing good logical flow alone does not make a program look good. Each program should give a fancy appearance at readers eye. What I refer to is "Coding Standards".

I never bothered number of spaces and tabes (since they are free) between lines/expressions/statements and etc things in my program. I used them excessively since, I want even a first standard student to understand what was written. I many times commented some good Author's writing style as "Why he behaves micer in using spaces and tabes?"

But, now I surprised to read the coding standards (of Java). There are number of ways to make the compiler feel happy than the user. I look back my code writing style and feel (bad). I am going to follow the coding standards righ now that make the compiler and the user feel happy ( me too).

After reading the standards, surely I will leave a sample program here (highlighting what I learnt :) )

This funny tech book, I enjoy now.

I refer to the book "Sun Certified Programmer and Developer for Java2", by Kathy Seirra and Bert Bates. I have been exploring the book for some past weeks. The author get the readers to have feel like reading a funny novel, than a technical volume. From the very first page itself, it moves freely with the audience. This is the first time, I see such technical volume with equal funny contents. I am now eagerly reading the book page by page.

Also, both authors (Kathy and Bert) are writing many best-selling books on Java, with the prefix of 'HeadFirst'. I want to have a read on them all, at least to enjoy the author's writing style.

Reading that book gives me smart knowledge on small things in Java fundamanetals. I get to cover the book sooner.

Thanks Kathy & Berts and Good luck for your journey with HeadFirst!!.

if (confidence == null ) life = "waste" ;

I had an amazing thought..
I was thinking of some great people, being very successful.....
some people being unsuccessful......
and some (extreme) people , never caring anything in life !!........

This is the program, come to mind suddenly:

--------------------------------------------

String situation[] = {"sad" , "mad", "happy" , "bad" , "terrible","exciting"};
String life = null;
while (confidence != null )
{
life = situation [ new Random(). nextInt(situation.length)] ;
}
life = "waste" ; // Then, No meaning in living man!!!

-----------------------------------------------------

A m I right Ram? I didnt handle any exception! :)

Point base, Random sequence

Now I rarely have chance to see errors!!. I am totally off from programming. Today I had a chance to debug some code. I was working with my friend's project and I used there Pointbase DBServer. (I was thinking to use it long.., it doesnt look good as oracle!! )
Then, Random Generator in Java. Its a really a cool implementation than C language. It uses system time for getting seed.. with interval of 1 milli second ( is that a loophole? )

God give me chance to see more codes, to debug more errors, to gain more knowledge.!!!

The lesson, called life.

Days roll out like anything. I am not able to describe myself how I am living. Each moment teaches me a big lesson. They test me, degbug me and at last leave me exhausted. A warrior fighting in the battle field knows he risks his life; me too.
I want more vigours in heart.

Outstanding Star : Super Star

It aged more than 25 years since he came to act. When he appears on the screen, there people see a flash of magnet... stroke of sun.... He is Rajnikanth, in-escapably tagged as 'Super Star' of Tamilnadu (+ India).

I have been continuing as his fan from my childhood. In that age, it was a complete attraction made me as his fan. Now he seems an odd personality apart from the cine screen. He speaks of 'Anmeegam' and walks his speach. He shows no sign of proud or zealous of being No 1 hero.

This time, when chandramukhi stroke a 'Himalaya Hit', Rajni became the Asia's No: 2 Superstar. (Jackie Chan retains the first place).

Chandramukhi brought him a big highlight and made him become India's most paid actor (than Amidhap). Also, it is the film to make the maximum turn over out of all Tamil (I think all Indian ) films.

Then, Sankar + Rajni combination for Sivaji? I think Jacki Chan will be over taken!! :-)) Be careful Jackie!!

Gazini

Somedays back I have been to Gazini with friends. After long time, this is my 'Yet another night show'. I was eagerly expecting this film 'Gazini'. From the beginning itself, the film went thrill... ( I dont have patience to enjoy the thrill yaar!! ). Surya, as a 'short term memory lost' patient, roaming with horrible eyes and killing some persons.
Surya as 'Sanjai Ramasamy' appeared as the most 'smart' guy in screen out of all his avatars!. Esspecially the scene, when surya is coming to meet Asin at firs time, he is inside a black theme.. Surya looks very smart in all the scences, as 'Sanjay Ramasamy'. The picturization is cool. Tamil cinema is growing in technology too. The two songs still stay in (extended-segment) memory. I have set the song as my ringtone. Hari made music well for surya, once again after kakka kakka.
Asin made the audience to laugh throughout. Every thing went well. The climax is again masala. Why 2 villians? Nothing impressed. Otherwise film is cool. I am trying to locate surya's picture at Gazini here. But, not able to find.

So, I place his kakka kakka.

Also, here is code for asccessing newly created db: (using jdbc)

props.put("password", "tiger");
props.put("internal_logon", "sysdba");
Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection (url, props);

Ranchers way.. && PL/sql

During these time, I practice with mock questions (as sugessted by javaranchers). Also, training classes go on with Pl/sql. It seems easy and interesting. I made my first 'factorial program in Pl/sql'. (But, I know thats not the purpose for which Pl/sql used! :)) )

I have limited time access to internet. So, no time to record all nice things I learnt. Sure, one day will have some bandwidth to write everything!

Rancher's SCJP Faq - useful one

If I cancel my preparation this time, I will never resume it. I am sure, I am not going to give up SCJP preparation. Almost, finished the SCJP1.4 Syllabus. This Rancher's FAQ column helped me lot. People recommended "Kathy seirra" version. But, prepared using only Khalid Azim mughal. Anyway mock up questions will help in understanding the fundo end-to-end. Passed in test.

Me today appeared for test and got with 83%. People said I passed. Here, 46 persons appeared for the test and only 10 of them cleared. Some of the questions/choices are given wrong, I noticed. The test needs basic understanding + practical knowledge + theory from books. So, it seemed some what toughe for all. Hope, others will pass in next appearance and should help them to break out.

:(
I often worried of loosing the skills and passion over time, bcoz of my situations and hell a lot of uncertainities crossed in my life. I am really happy to see, I still stand successful in all the problems. But, this is the firs time, I am this much vexed alone. I am unable to trace the route causes of all these...anyway getting cultivated to goahead with the destiny... I realized many facts myself by facing problems one by one over time.

:)
Also, I am very much happy to see my friends are getting jobs and settling in life...best of luck guyz. Meet u all at some points of life in heights....

Hyderabad

Hyderabad express dropped us here last wednesday.Just walked around the city. City looks cool with green gardens. I have been to BigBazar, Golgonda and Charminar. Nice historical places to take a look.

Seen the buildings of Satyam, Oracle, Semantic Space et al. Here stand Cyber Tower in Hi-tech city ( as like Tidle park in Chennai).

Notable thing in hyderabd is "share auto". Share autos here have great influence over public, than buses. Really good system to follow. Food is some what spicy, but it seems be managed.

Then, this is the first time I see lady conductors in buses. Conductors seem docked and neat. Also, here roam many metro expresses.
Last week, we roamed the complete city with maps!

Hello my dear kids,

At all these 1 month evenings, I spend time with my sithi family.Really unforgettable days in my Sithi home. Their kids became more closer with me than ever before. Now, I am debtful to that family's kindness.

I used to teach the kids text books. Kids are very smart in learning...! long live my dear children!

Along with them, I learnt this lesson,

"Being weak is a Sin;
Being weak is a human-error;
My child, get up and stand like a firm-rock!
Our country needs heroes; Not cowards"

Symbol of Confidence

My mum was telling me to take care while travelling... to take care of luggauge, food, health and etc, while travelling.... (Nothing but her great care!)

I happened to read today news paper. Amazed to see the photo...! a man on Discovery was trouble shooting the damaged parts sitting on the space with out any fear..! (even NASA warned them about Columbia incident)...That guy even knows its doubtful to return to earth! Anyway he was trying his best with great confidence..! He is the symbol of confidence!

Me replied mum, "I am confident of travelling anywhere, after seeing this photos!"

------------

I agree with this...

Prabhu has recently forwarded an email to our group (sent by a GE executive). Manytimes I used to think the same.

Email content:
----------------------------

"Every day for the last four months I have been hiring. I come to office each day, hassle my recruitment team, agencies and consultancies for resumes, perform interviews, negotiate salaries and make offers. It's amazing to see how people negotiate for salaries and perks, no one asks anything anymore about what the job entails, what they can contribute, or how they can grow and realize their dreams here. It's about pay, and people are eagerly willing to display unbridled stupidity in managing their careers by focusing incessantly on money. Heck, the time it takes to finalize an offer nowadays, I could send out an offer letter, go have several children, watch them grow, put them through school and then head back to office, the candidate is likely to have finished negotiating his pay and ready to join. This is all fine and dandy; it's a hyper-inflationary job market. What's disturbing is the not-so-new trend of IT jobs flying out of India. I hear an 850-seater call center has decided to move out of India due to attrition and increasing costs. Hell, my own company has pushed out 100 jobs out of India into Eastern Europe, and I was part of that decision. We need to wake up and smell the stink of the decay we are creating all around us in the IT job market. Year-on-year end people here expect nothing less than 30 to 45% salary increases, where as the average salary hike in the US per year is 3% and Eastern Europe is 4%.

I could go on and on about the quality of the flotsam and jetsam that washes on to my desk in response to job ads, but we all know it. Sometimes it takes as many as 40+ interviews to close one position. Sad part? The bozos still think they are worth it.

At this rate IT India better ensure they have transferable skills, because in a couple of years from now they will not have jobs to feed their money-frenzied lifestyles.

Let's do justice to the lessons the dotcom tried to teach us, what goes up must come down."

Yes this issue is reasonable.

Swamiji, are you listening?

I need to utter out something which I had in my mind so long. I often think to seek some companions to share this strange thoughts. It is none other than u that i want.
It is none other than your words, made me to getup and work for something towards something.
In fact, I have no destination of where to go & what to do in my future. I am just an inspiration driven and your spirit driven living. I never even thought of living here so long.
I would have lived in ur age..I would have lived along with you. I would have been laid on ur feet throughout my life.
In the long run of my age, I worried for many volatile things in life, ur words and advise protected me from the evils.

I still make my living blindly believing ur spirit and inspirations with my soul every now and then..
Sometimes I followed ur words, many time I just remembered you...Though ur words are not applicable for those, who involve in worldly life like me...
Now, see I become ur disciple.....

Samiji...I m going .....guide me...

My score, New site idea

I tried to find out the possibilities of writing the JVM for nokia 1100. But, it needs to understand the internals of the Nokia1100 & surely needs the technical support from the actual developer!! How come??!! Lets c.
I go to temples & seek peace in rest time. Its the way to keep myself cool & stable.
Then, whats hot? : I m an Engineer with 77.639 score!
(I m also thinking of developing a website for the temple around my home...will do it soon)

Returning to normal, Mind bubbles ideas! :)

For the past 20 days, I was unstable & bounded up with billions of uncertainites. Now I feel some what relaxed and still resuming.. [I left them all. Time has to answer..]

Then, again started preparing SCJP. Also get to know a lot about Wireless...still reading a lot. My mind bubbles out with lot of ideas from second to second. Some bubbles..

1. Writing Tcpdumb/pcap library for mobiles (using J2ME).

2. Writing/Porting JVM to Micro controllers or other very small computing devices.

3. Writing a Wifi scanner using Java (or using J2me)....& few more.

I didnt check up with Google, whether they already exist or not. Anyway doing such things are not midnight projects. It needs a dedicated team with a facilitated environment. But, I will keep learning myself & try out the possibilities to do them with the permission of situtations and timings.

java notes

results from the worked out examples,

Facts about interface:
======================
1.all methods of interface are abstract.
2.all the members of interface are static & final.
3.interface cant have mehod with definition.
4. A class can extend one class but can implement many interfaces..
5. A class can extend more than one interface.
6. An interface only can extend another interface.
7. An interface can not be private/protected.
8. An interface can extend another interface and not a class.
9. Assume an interface i, class c have a method sum(). If a class implements
i, extends c means, it needs not to define the method sum() of i. (if class c
omits the body, then it shd. Also, the remaining methods of i, shd be defined
the body.)
10. An interface can be defined in side a class. (Nothing wrong, a nested
class can implement that interface)

Facts about abstract
===================
1.If an abstract class defines body of a method, the extending class needs not
to implement it again
2. If an abstract class doesnt define body of a method, then extending class
should implement it.
3. If there is a class having no method definitions, the extending class
should implement the body...(similiar to Abstract class)
4. 'abstract' key word insists that 'you cant create object for the class'
5. abstract class can have reference variable but not objects(initialization/
using new keyword)

Interface Vs Abstract class:
=============================
1.An interface has adv over abstract, since it helps in achieving multiple
inheritance.
2.Interfaces are slow as it requires extra indirection to to find
corresponding method in in the actual class. Abstract classes are fast.
3. for interface its possible to create reference. But for abstract classes it
is not.

Why Ejb?, Jdk6.0 features

I often think of the situtation to use Ejb. Still I never had a chance to assist ejb code in anywhere. Java people recommend Ejb, when the project scope is really complex and in Enterprise level. Unwanted usage of EJb results in performance, effort & money lost. Surprisingly they say, some alternatives are tried to replace the Ejbs. One more problem with j2ee is integration of different language & s/w. This makes me lazy in learning Ejb. I just touch Ejb, when I have free time & no interest in touching it alone.

theserversid.com lists the new features in Mustang (jdk6).
*embedded Rhino (Javascript) interpreter,
* extending java.io.File to discover free disk space,
* an embedded light weight HTTP server,
* XML Digital Signatures API,
* JAX-WS 2.0, JAXB 2,
* JDBC 4, JMX 1.3,
and a user-requested improvements and big fixes.

But, I see Java is losing its standards...by the name 'flexibility' :-)

Jpcap - Java Packet Capture Library

I tried packet capture library for java (jpcap). I installed the lib, as per the installation procedures given in the readme file. The first problem is Jdk version mismatch. Next wpcap.dll file missing, then downloaded wpcap.dll from www. & again said: packet.dll missing. Then, again downloaded packet.dll. Then, "procedure Entry signature missing...in packet.dll"? Oops! I cant rewrite the dll source again. What a hell is it?
Google suggested to reinstall the complete winpcap pack. Did the same. Atlast I see tcpdump.java working fine. But, I didnt go thro the complete Api!. But I am so happy to see classes ICMP, TCPPacket,..and the likes.
Yes, I am ready for sniffing.

Internet traffic. Realize the worth of....

I often think of our net traffic. I surprise to see the bandwidth & speed of my campus !!:-) . I have never seen these servers speed crossing the limit of158KBps. But, they promised many times the bandwidth 1250Kbytes/sec. (1.2 MBps). And 1:4 shared bandwidth!
The peak performance I saw by wget-log is: 158KBps (rarely). How is the bandwidth swallowed? I never believed all the ridiculous reasons that they answered me. Also, this pity with an additional wireless tower sharing bandwidth!
They have to think of it. Link down for an hour wastes money in thousands!

Google defines a computer guy's Skill!

Prp gets over today. I was net reading about Internet traffic (added the link in my home). Thanks to google, to get me this much explanation. Also, got a chance to explore google opportunities (We are hiring!). I have seen this already. I saw the skill sets they requested. Really, these are the skill sets I often think of :)

I just copy & paste the list:

* People with broad knowledge and expertise in many different areas of
* computer science and mathematics, including distributed systems,
* operating systems, data mining, information retrieval, machine
* learning, performance optimization, algorithms, user interface design,
* statistical inference and information theory, and related areas.
* People with world-class programming skills.
* People with excellent communication and organizational skills.
* People who are passionate about their work and are great colleagues.
* People who enjoy working in a high-energy, unstructured environment on
* very small project teams to build amazing products used by millions of
* people every day.
* People with diverse interests and skills.

Oops! This is what the engineering skill! .Each & every computer engineer should have to go through this list! But, they mention long experience (with atleast a PhD!). Also, I am inspired by the comment given by a google guy:
"It's fantastic to come straight out of school and build something that's used
by millions of people." - Lauren, Software Engineer

Yes, Really! challenges make the life meaningful.

PRP test planned on 17th june

Thanks to those, who infomed me about Scja. I saw the exame objectives. It seems like the test is for experienced people. However, I am not that much prepared. And also this PRP test pressure tights my neck. They confirmed the final test date on June 17th.
7 days given for preparation. Have to use the days for preparing for test alone. Now, I feel some what relaxed after getting decided to spend forthcomming days.

Then? Scjp progress bar: 4.2 chapters.

Monday, June 06, 2005

Thus the last week went.

I just highlight the last week's happenings.

* Worked out all the doubts in sql. (constraints, joins, functions, normal forms & etc)
* Just now completed 3 chapters of Azim Khlid mughal.
* Had lot of dicussion on very fundo things in unix,rdbms... & etc.
* Enjoyed with Google maps, Internet Backpone map.
* Meet many of my friends online.

Thinking to refresh on JMS, JAXP. But, not having enough time.

Some 2 days back we had a meet with Subramanian Swaminathan .He gave an once-over on the structure of Corporate & various process going inside.

Also, we were informed that we'd have our test by june 15/16th. However no clear idea about joining date or any thing.

Then, I am so glad about my juniors. I always notice that the "growth rate of junior generation is faster than its precursors!". Yes, they bring out lot of ideas & work out them, with passion. Best of luck guys!!

new Thread("SQL");

Talk of today is Sql. Anitha mam kick started the new thread. I remember she took the same subject for us some 2 years ago. I practiced almost all the basic queries.
Then got a doubt about on escape character with like keyword.
This query solved my doubt,

select * from emp where name like 'like!%' escape "!" ;

(Sql is smart in using escape char!).

Then, I got the book "A Programmer's Guide to Java Certification" by Khalid Mughal. Have to start preparation. I heard about Sun's 20% discount on scjp. But I saw it was applicable only for Singapore people! (Still, not sure ). Any way I am not going to do it now. I need deep understanding, then good score. So, will try after some months.

Diversification or Expertise?

Diversification or Expertise?

I often puzzled with this topic! What seems paramount in one's career?. I think that this question is applicable for any kind of professional domains. Let me think about my community alone, I mean this computer community.
I see continuous steady divergents in my career by technically & non-technically. Also this may be due to some mandatories or the immediacy of situtations or even the attraction towards some hot technologies.
Whatever may be!. Now I ask to my conscience. At last, what I have gained so far? What am I known for? (for diversifications :-)? ). This might be the billion dollar quesion on everyone's active brain!

Diversification?

I do agree with the term 'diversification'.As a student, having fresh brain, I didnt wish to restrict myself on some kind of computer stuffs alone. I have been exploring various nooks & corners of this computer technology and all I conclude is, I have surpassed a very little. This technolgy diversification is must for knowing the relation between various tiers and also will be helpful to work as individual. This kind of diversification really helped me to seek ideas for big problems & to plan for big solutions. Yes, I do agree with my ethics "Student should not be built for any corporate or as mender for any technology. They should know that there are many things behind this 'LPA' and 'White Collar' jobs "

Expertise?

I think that I am often worrying about this question, when I am trying a job. Since, there might be some position, that I have to mould myself to fit into. This time, I go behind the tail of some technology....then become disinterested & uninterested. All these are spoiling my career in some way.....
I have always been trying to fulfil this stand-off between the interest and career. Expertise is important, but it paints one's career with some color. Any way expertise brings light on one's window...but how far is the matter.

So, whats at last?

"Expertise is essential. Be an expert. But, still have the passion to learn, interest to diversify"

Inner class, Garbage collection, string literal pool

Hup!
There are many facts that I came to know about all these nuts. Getting confused in using inner class, and this sun tutor site gives idea,
http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/java/javaOO/QandE/nested-answers.html
Also, for clarifying garbage collection, I had a visit to JavaRanch site. I saw some replies were posted wrong..then IBM Developer work links cleared my doubts..I closed my window and forgot to note down the link! :-)
We were brainstorming with this String class, but the trick is 'String literal Pool' ! Also, the recent download of scjp guide is helpful for quick review.
http://203.101.67.189/~mani/java.html
Whom should I thank? Absolutely Google!, My freinds & circle sugesst me to improve my memory, else it may create problem. Yes, I could improve memory stability.
Now, I feel to take a break.

Days rolling busy?

I dont even find a minute to put some thing in this blog. What goes here? Nothing wrong, things go useful. Really this Training made me busy & useful in recollecting manythings.
I think now I am very much centered on Java alone. Training has ignited a new thread on learning java. Also, thinking of writing SCJP & not now. Will have to work out a lot, hope this holidays will help.

Wednesday, May 25, 2005

I see progress

I think nowadays I feel busy. (:-)) I have just recovered from all setbacks...and doing my work very faster with passion....(hope, this will continue for ever.)
I tried that Enterprise application, after crossing hell a lot of errors, now I am stuck! The Apps says some critical error message that "Bean class not found", How come? I imported all those packages...Ok, lets post this question in Javaranch and see what the people advise me.

Mr.Hotmail's key issues.

Today almost wasted time in class except the java practice....I have loaded the questions in server. I should finish the Webservices & EJB practice with in this sat & sun day holidays....
And,I do agree with this Mr.Hotmail's perspective on Indian IT,
http://indicthreads.com/blogs/214/Indian_IT_industry_lacks_innovation.html
Feeling bore with classes ....going very slow ......and look lifeless.

Back to command line

Even though this Netbeans ide looks cool, it will be bad practice, if I directly put my head into it. First, have to hard code with Application server.
Direct interaction (thro command line) will help in understanding the grounds. Also, it'll feed the knowledge in switching between various application servers. So, I decided to take a break from Netbeans...& to join with Sun's App in command line mode.
Still I am not getting which Apps is good? (I mean widely accepted). Until I identify anything in specific, I will do war with Sun's Apps.
Mam gave us set of java questions.....(online). I didnt calculate my score now...But, I remember I was stuck at some questions. (I didnt review the answers yet... )

http://www.jchq.net/mockexams/exam1.htm

I have to collect things from Google for this 'Normal Forms' issues...Understood types of Normal Forms .....but not practically ....Have to try for some sample problems using Google.

Adopting Googlism

Having emailed Google's license key
I was grappling with Google, without knowing to get its license key for accessing Google thro Web API. I went thro complete FAQ column, then got solution . Then, Google emailed me the license key. I tried the demo program (GoogleAPIDemo.java), (with license key). it worked .
I passed the 2 options: 1. search 2. spell

Eclipse is on top of talk!
I see these people hotly discussing with Eclipse... (javablogs).But, I feel ok with Netbeans (4.1). Today, I installed mobile pack...still having to do a lot with it...

wget problem solved:
After getting reply from ILUGC, downloaded wget 1.92. Now problem solved. Also wget 1.9 for Windows also downloaded & got it working.

Googlism:
Get to know a lot about Googlism at this link,

Eclipse Vs Netbeans:

Read this interesting Graph, (from Rouumen's blog)
Blue curve for Eclipse, Red for Netbeans ...It is some measure of topics that people disucss about.
Curve for Eclipse is already up, Netbeans is picking up (after its 4.1 release)

21 years gone in hurry?

Just before now I posted my previous blog. See, I saw the date ..14-05-2005?
Some thing popped in mind ....Remember Mani? this is 14th May!....Oops! Its my
21nd birthday .. I forgot this date even ...Now its evening 5.55PM.. Just now I
come to know today is my Bday.

Whats this life? full of hurry. Things roll on faster like anything.
I have just grown by an year.
I am not happy as like I was in last year....
I am not interested as like I was in last year .....
I see I loose interest in everything .... become mentally tortured...

Why?

I have to cultivate interest....I have to make this life more challenging
.....I have to make this mind to rest in peace ....

got Netbeans IDE being slow

I posted the previous blog by email. But, could have set in text mode
I got Netbeans in hand. But (un)expectedly it takes this much time to deploy a simple application (6minutes & 10sec)...But, the work is admirable.
Have to practice with Netbeans.
What happen to me? I feel this life empty ....suffering from mental
tension...I dont know how my time sucked...everything go in waste.
I feel responsible How to take position.

Ist post by Email, Netbeans IDE download

<DIV> <DIV class="messageinfo separator"></DIV> <DIV>This is my first blog submitted via email.<BR>Today, I used 'jedit' IDE, that looks cooler, but seems very slower. (PRP) and SCJP download

PRP session going nowadays. Today got materials from Office. They seem to be easier, but have to go through the books completely.
For RDBMS , I googled almost all the keywords. For Java, Mam told me to rip SCJP questions from www. The pattern gives more important for java (30%).
Hoping no problem in passing...But have to retain the fundamentals, even after the training.. Hoping to do so..
Got some questions of SCJP from this link,

BE - 59 Escape Points crossed.

Today, did well the s/w testing paper. I am taking easy breath now.Here, I have the list of subjects that I liked most during this BE...

* Introduction to Computer Graphics
* Software Engineering
* Physics
* Data structure
* System Software
* DBMS
* Oops
* Theory of Computation
* Microprocessor
* Visual Programming
* Operating System
* Computer Architecture-2
* Computer Networks
* Unix Internals
* Principles of Management
* Web Technology
* Professional Ethics
* TQM
* Software Testing

DSP and Probablity Of Queing theory are to be the toughest, I felt out of all. I have had very less interest in Electronics oriented papers. I didnt learn in deep about Telecom, which I expected most. Mainframe and Java Virtual are my missed electives.

Now, I am again curious in learning the fundoes. I just turns the
pages of 'The C Programming Language' by K&R...and thinking of reading Elmasri
(for DBMS)...again have to brush up SQL...

TQM - Problems made problem

Yesterday, was preparing for the TQM exam with very much anxiety. How do I remember all these headings and points? I rushed on pages and loaded the maximux in memory!
I knew p,u,c,x bar charts alone.

Morning 9:50..ten more minutes left. I just gave an onece-over on 5th Unit.
I was unable to recollect even a single point from 5th unit, espeacially which I had left "ISO900, ISO14000 requirements." I think there were 8 headings and with their nested subheadings.

10:0 entered into exam hall (ITP-G22 hall, where is it?, Oops! its opposite to my class room)

10:05 I started glancing the question paper. To my great humour, there I saw
2 problems.. I cooled down myself. 11th problem looked simpler. Its all about
mean & standard deviation..so I just solved..(surprise comes next..), then
looked at 13th(not sure) question..there were 2 problems as alternatives.
10 marks out! Ok, next go to 15th. Woff! Whats this ISO9000 & ISO14000?
Every thing went off. Nothing comes to the mind..except few points...
I was fighting as weaponless fellow in 3Hrs war.

At last it happened! Yes, it became 1'o clock. Got out of the exam hall.
(Here follows the surprise ) I smiled & said my friends, "I have done 11 sum well. Got 12.5 as mean... & 90 % for another quest", "Hey, we too...12.5 & 90%". I felt happy..with them...Someone came immediately and shouted "Who are all getting 12.5 & 90% ?", we replied "We ...guys!(with guts)",he continues.."All you missed 10 Marks..your calculation is correct, but ...the formulaw is wrong". he, he ...the joyest ticks gone away...and at last, we pray "Anna" to save as all.

Hoping to pass !! :-)

All Nokia models, Wireless presenter

Am much impressed by this Nokia Technology. Seen, the Nokia mobile hardware is preferable for Java platform. At this link, I have seen the complete coverage of All Nokia Mobile Models.

http://www.nokia.co.in/nokia/0,,45260,00.html

I do remember, some days back ZDnet India alerted me about the adventure of
Nokia 9300. Now, 9500 also here...

Recently, read about the wireless presenter at.

http://203.199.107.177/clients/nokia/wireless_presenter/images/home/index.html

Technology is becomming more grips!! 8-)

Here comes a relief for J2ME programmers to do floating point operation...Yes,
this mobile is CLDC1.1 (having java.lang.Float , is that package name correct?
Isnt java.math.Float? )
The mobile series no: Nokia 6030 (Midp2.0, cldc1.1). Sounds cool!

Jprofiler, ssh gambling..

Today, saw all the a/c's have been disabled .....at last I got some valid ip's, allowed by squid in cc-7.
I got one ip left, I set it to one yellow dog. Bala came there. He asked one
more ip? How to get it? How did I do it..

:-) , I started sshd in my system. He 'ssh' ed to my yellow dog and started
mozilla there. (hmm....."there are n no of solution in linux", I still
remember)

At night, was working with Jprofiler. Really a useful tool for benchmarkers. I
made my simple java code for cpu, i/o marking. JProfiler started a separate
window and loaded the class for execution ...then made its chart and
statistics ...
I tried j2ee application there ..But, it was unable to start...might be server
path missing (or) class path mightn't be avail (or) JVM version might not be
suit..have to check out tomorrow..

JSP taglib, playing with Google

Today evening, was searching for jsp taglib. I went through the following link.

http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/java/library/j-jsp07233.html

Really cool stuff.

Then, I was turning pages of "Software testing".....at 11:30 PM...that time, Prabhu sir called me with Maharaja to UG computer center. He was attending his onli
ne exam.
He just asked my assistance for the test. We just took our chairs ...I said him we could make Google's assisatance...He was answering questions one by one.
We solved all most all the questions. There were some trickies...which I prayed
to Google...
That was the first time, I used my maximum potential to form very complex
queries ...and got answers with in earlier hits.
And, tend to know many thing in Digital System + Circuits..(like, verilog, vhdl
and etc..)

Whats this test policy? I dont understand and agree...It inclueds the syllaby
of core CSE and ECE ..? How come a fellow get to understand all these ?

Yes, again I do remeber there is nothing called frontier in technology.

Then?, tomorrow, have to request another key for Jprofiler trial version.

Here comes the last moment.....

feeling the last moments...after the project

Today, as per academic definition, all the tech nonsense has come to an end. Yes, today attended university project demo. Ram went on first half, and continued the rest in presentation. Really, both made it cool.
Then, evening went demo. This time only saw my project showing peak performance. I feel myself satisfied.
I have to thank a billion to
Prabhu (for his GPRS sim)

Chandramugi

18th August 2002. Too old?.. I went to theatre on that day last. I forgot the
film name..

I was eagerly expecting April 14th for Chandramugi. I am one of Rajni's fan..I didnt like
night show..,so I cancelled the ticket..then...dropped the idea of seeing
film...Thanks to Kishore..who made the tickets for us at last.

This is the first time in my life, that I get to theatre at morning 7.30.(!!). Got up at 5' clock ...(Hmmm...I never got up at this time, even for exams..)

At 8'o clock, it started...Rajni film..seemed like a festival. Mass of
crowd infront the theatre....they were doing all such formolities for Rajni..

I always amaze at this people's craze towards Rajni. I never see this gala for any actor...

First half went enjoyable..with cute Rajni as like he was in 1980s.His humorous cracks with Vadivelu. I see there missing his Guts little bit. It is like, Rajni here chosen for the story, not the story for Rajni.

He appears as a psychiatrist and done the char well. Jothika excelled equally. I really thrilled for each scene in second half. It again remained an ancient story...of Maharaja...Chandramugi...etc. But, was nice screen play.

The notables are songs...Vidhya sagar has really proved. SPB still matches with Rajni. Rajni, with his same stlye, blasted all the songs...with cuteness that was never before.

Rajni, acted up on story, not for his Guts. This film again seems like a traditional masala. But, differs in some thing...

is that Rajni?

Bagging up mani@172.16.42.200 and mani@172.16.46.200

"Each beginning has its end. Otherwise it ends itself", I do remember these words, from some one's email signature.I think that, it should be 3 years long, since I have been working on these Linux servers. That time it was Redhat7.3 and I had my loing on 172.16.42.200.

Days rolled out, technology is changed... also the last moments have come to go out of the servers.

I do feel sentimental relation-ship with these servers...I see myself, that some one who takes care of these servers ... by the way of pinging ...load mesuring ....hacking...benchmarking ..and etc.

"How do I express the feelings between a computer and a human?"

This evening, I was busily working on 42. XForwarding was disabled in 46. Also, they cut-down the ssh service in 46. I was cleaning up my area in 42. I saw hell a lot of things listed in my directory. I decided to categorize them ...when I issued 'du -sh ' command...surprisingly....I saw the server took much pain to calculate my area size!.
This is the only witness for my work in past 3 years. I think that it should be more than 1.5 GB. (The server may take easy breath, when my space is removed :) who knows!)

But, this back up work is not a matter of hours or day..will take a long time. Today, spent aroung 1 and 1/2 hrs to remove the *.txt,*.gif,*.java,*.class,*.htm(l),*.tar.gz,*.zip,*.png *.c. *.o' s. I Will have to shift them to CD.
Lets see how goes tomorrow.

Ooty: Trip to "Queen of Hill Stations"

Last friday, I had 2 day trip to Ooty. It is going to be (b)logged as spice in memory. Still I remember the same trip 2 yrs back, with the same friends to there. But it was very short, not even this much colorful.
But, I feel this time it is fabulous, out of all.
I surprised to remember that I was on 2.2 Km hieght!!. When, we were on
Doddabetta, had a chance to look down..from the peak point....How come all
these?
I saw there a cafe. I took a cup of coffee and came out of the crowd..and sat
alone ...I just glanced at the valley...which gone down deep.....(My mind now forgets computer, google and etc). I felt like, I was born again.
"There is no substitute for the peace by nature. I see here the mass..the energy....and the other facet of this universe....my dear livings...plz come here and shout ...I am a tiny dust before this universe ...incomparable with this nature..." so goes my mind.

Then, went to pykara falls..it seemed like dry. We went boating next. Thrilling
moments..Without knowing the break...steering ..we made the fun in all possible ways.

Next, experience is at Shooting spot. I just left my feet slept..took me deep
to the foothill again.....(am I having that much stamina to come up again?, hug!)

Other enjoyable moments with Paramesh...where we guys sat round of him..he
used to do mimicry of all the staffs, whose lectures we had in the past 4 yrs.

The mind is now free from toxins.... I realize "There are many universes ...behind this CPU"!!.

Vivek - the happiest jiffies in life

He is smart, react to the situation casual, and has been my favourite comedian for the long. He has been making people to laugh for the past years in tamil cine field. He also encapsulates a social message with his comedy track.
He used to imitate almost all the famous faces. (Its enjoyable and shows the
people's ignorance about them). Where I remember, he imitated Bharathiyar in a
film, a heart breaking comedy track.
Also, police, doctors and other social servants are his favourite for making
comedy. He highlights the degradation of their dignity...and makes fun
out of it.
I never forget his track in the file 'Run'. He quits from home and travels to
chennai to seek his future... there comes number problems..he burst them all
like crackers.... Atlast, the message comes....people rejecting the parents
.....suffer a lot.
Then, his track in university...as a student....in Majnu...as a worthless
student...as a jobseeker in Vally.... and much more.
Long live vivek!

"The one who makes people Happy, is an ambassador by God".

What can I do?
I have to debug myself, there could be some bugs mentally.

Trip to friend's home

Some two days back we planned to take trip to my friend's home. Today morning, the plan was loaded for execution. I think the travelling distance was to be some 10 KM.

We prefered jungle route...on the bank of a stream. I dont remember any sound or nauisance in that atmosphere.

I realized the next facet of this life. I saw some people at road side, on the green farm. They were busy at their job. They are the humans, who do not have their own mail-id, who dont bother about spam mails, never come online, never think of buying any domains.

They keep billion mile distance from computers and never prayed to Google.

I surprised, if I was put in their work space, I would become again a baby of 3 years old. I realized, if all the computer companies were to be closed and I would have become unemployable.
When, I was about to leave, I was broken to in to pieaces and murmured, "When do I return back here? "

BE- The End...

$ ssh 172.16.46.200 -l mani -XC
$ asadmin start-domain domain1

I dont know how long my (heap) memory will sustain all these command line hells!. But here I have got a large array of 'Unforgettables' from these guyz!I have been ever thank full to God, for giving me this large pool of friends surrounding.
Here, people I met with, are of different genre of chars. One enjoys his life ever, some works harder like anything, few be always conscious, some dont bother anything and I am mixture of all these.
I feel this life has become very dynamic and accidental. At this moment, I am
learning ...I am aging...and experiencing....
I highlight some virtual characters, whatever these 120 Computer Gurus taught me at this Gurugulam,

"When you stop learning, you feel like you are dead"

"Any problem has its own solution. Dont believe? Try Google!"

"Here is your dream, and here is your parachute, come on."

"There are 2 kinds of people. One who makes computers start thinking, another
who starts thinking like computers...Behave like the former."

"Characters, Health, Knowledge and save them in the same order."

And much more.

Have you worried of this farewell?. But, I did never. Do you believe, we are
away after this?. But I do never. I dont believe at philosophies and quotes.
But, I strongly agree with "All are still sitting with you, when you never believed at farewell."

Hello my dear future Gates and Linus, we can still live as inseparable in this
(e)world, If you too dont believe at farewell.......

I do feel drowsy.....

This time I take rest in peace....keep my hands away from keyboard....not willing to suffer with computer ...
I feel this comforts the heart...

Search Engine Project meets full stop.

Today, I was rushing towards hard coding..with the hurry of finishing the project before afternoon.
I was acting like an assembler than a programmer. I integrated various reusable code snippets with the project code.

The last headache came when I tried to connect to google for searching. Thats, Google's 403 error code! I got surprised! 403 http error code says: Your request is understood, but I wont allow :) .. See.. How smart google is!
Then I planned to use wget for ripping the search page then storing it in a file and reading from bean class.
The project has beome like a noodles structure! . Immediately I got an idea popping in mind...Why dont try socket?
Yes, it worked at last.

How long should I fight with computer?

Absent mindedness, stuck, head ache, frustration.....these things are new gifts offered by computers..When do I get relief? How come I feel this much pain?
Yes, I got it...I need patience ..distance from the computers...

No...No..I cant imagine a world without Google!!

Nokia 6600 -- (Dis)connecting India...

I tried the pop mail service project with Nokia6600...It didnt work! I dont know what hell went behind..
Again & again, I flushed the o/p stream..but no improvement!. Have to think of it..
Evening things went bore ...Again, I saw the nice film 'Behind the enemy lines'

Google in Tamil

Hmm.... It took an year to speak about the project atleast. When collaborated with Annauniv, to develop Tamil based search engine, I had never time to think about it..(I had time, but I didnt bother ...).
I am loosing my memories often....What could be the reason for this?

Playing with Nokia6600

Today, I had chance to play with Nokia 6600. I was running some sample popo applications...It didnt work out!
When, I tried in the morning ... it worked but now it is not!!

Last bug present in the project has been fixed !!! (Who knows it is the last???)

Today, I went to my 3rd class. I met my juniors. Who made them become this much afraid abt the interviews? I asked them to be cool and casual. I went on explaining may tactica about interview. I insisted them to give more preferences to improve their HR potential than Technical.
I tried to make them become confident. I'd be happy, if they could really grab some thing from my words. I have a lot to talk with them....

Hostel day

Yesterday is the last hostel day I enjoyed. No more special exept, the delicious dinner.

Saturday, March 19, 2005

It worked at last.

For the past 2 weeks, I have been in the job of executing my project. First ..midp2.0 mobile was in demand, then no Gprs and ...so many hurdles.

Today, thing went total flop, even when I had all these avail.
Atlast, I added a magic line, which made my project work!!

out.flush();

Thanks God, for this drama. I still remember the lesson, "Any problem has its own solution, Dont believe?, try Google!! "

(Now only I know why programmers have beard!!)

Project in Execution

Hmmm... I think that I take more effort to execute this project than what I spent for developing it.
Today, I demonstrated it to my Guide. There comes some sugesstion. Me too.. like to modify it! but modification requires some other mobile! But, I dont have such mobile nearby..

Lets see how thing go....

- "Change the project with sync to the specification, if not, do vice versa."
(Now I like this quote very much)

Tuesday, March 15, 2005

Memory looses ...

I am becomming very much absent minded. I do loose many things ..whatever I was doing before..whatever I planned to do...whatever I have done just back... Oops! every thing gone off!!
I have to practice myself to keep some thing remember!

Carnatic Classics

Now, I do like carnatic & keerthanaas very much than before. It has its pristine grlory and being the root of all Indian musical threads.
Dikshitars developed this treasure with new spirit during earlier days. Now it took itself many divergents. Now, what people doing is amazing and interesting. They do not follow any proper tune in complete flow, but they used to mix them all...and bring it as a new class of Raga.It is really enjoyable and tweaks the heart!
Pop mixed Hindi, Hindi mixed Tamil has become the fashion today. But, it still comforts the heart to sink into pure classicals !!!

Ups and downs of Life!

Some time I feel very much old, feeling tired of 85 yrs. It slumps down and make me idle. What could be the reason? Is it mental dead? or Physical bug?. Absolutely nothing.. These things are due to the toxins mobbing the mind..since over thinking.. I planned to stop touching computers atleast for a week....at least for a day(?..) .....at least for an hour(!!?)......at least...NO NO where is 'G', O' .... 'O' and .. 'G' then.... 'L' then... 'E' '.' 'C' 'O' 'M' and enter key....?

Meet with people ..

Today, I planned to meet my juniors and talk to them about these issues:

1. Learning one slef & not wasting money & time for unwanted courses.
2. Importance of group activities and group work.
3. Tranforming the experience(or talent) from one generation to the youth generation.
4. Current IT trend and forseable opportunities.
5. Skills demanded and how to build them.

Bearing all these in mind, I went there. (I think it should be 2 BE CSE- C section.). Some of them seemed to be enthusiatic, some looked interestless and few remained speechless. I started to talk about the issues one by one, they listened to me keenly...
I asked them if they had any questions. They remained silence. I repeated the same. Few questions blown out. They are very fundo and thinking in base. I could realize that they were in a pre-matured state, willing to learn some thing, but without knowing 'How to'.
They are like fresh clay, they should be shapped, not for the favour of any tehnology/any corporate, but for the spirit of engineering.
I could do some thing for these guys..not to make them leant, make them how to learn...

Jroup kickstart .

Today, I am thinking of doing some thing for Jroup. It must not be a session, where people speak for long... and question..
People are not interested in listening to speech. Instead they will believe at what we demonstrate and what we execute.
So, it should be demo session. I start some extreme java applications from WWW.....

Life without problems bores always !!!

Yesterday was very happy! (even, there is suffer, I installed Sun's J2EE Apps server and launched the EJB successfully. as 10th time! ) I shipped the online-exam from Tomcat to J2EE ....Hurrah!
But today the hell started ....48 was even not responding for ping. What could have gone wrong? Doesnt seem to be crazy to say the server is frozen !
What job does it has than answering the pinging? Hmm..Then I tried to re-install the apps in 42. But it will slowdown, since it is proxy. I dont think that it is that much smart to handle the load.
So, next target is 46. But I am panic! Already its flooded with heavy load. Then, how come it to handle the burden of apps ?
Any way I launched the apps in 46. Lets see how thing go ...with destiny ...

Things backfire....

Hmm.. I am feeling tougher to take breath...I dont know what happened to me...from the beginning of this weak itself ...every thing goes off the control.... unconsciously... loose thoughts ....presence...feel too much tired and slept down.!!
Hmm... This all should be the back fire of long days work...I should think of rest ...

Wednesday, March 02, 2005

Hurrah... Project strikes a hit at End !

Today.. I was working with a little frown to crush up the deadline. Forenone went in vein with some error correction. After noon, the fresh air entered with bug free...
Yes, the project hits the target ...and happy to say ...it is 100% over. And...I just loaded the proj into SonyEricson K700i. Oops! It shows the o/p cooler than what was expected.
I have to make some arrange ment for Airtel Cim with GPRS.... to show the compelte spirit of the proj....

Recovering from fatal errors ...

Hmm... Now I take breath easily. I feel the situation becomes cool some what. Still the effect ...swings..
Today after attended project review. Evening, I searched for MIDP2.0 & CLDC1.0 version mobile no.
Got a list from www. Thanks for ever to Google . I have to make a copy of it. Since, it is the answer for most of the review questions.
Few more holes left with the project .. Hoping, soon I'll complete them...

Mel Gibson, I wonder up on!

It starts in a grass landscape of scottland. It is filled up with dews and green. The director has chosen the location, which shows his patience.
I have seen "Passion of Christ", by Mel Gibson. I noted that his films are almost violation oriented. I dont know why.

There is a scott boy, who supposed to lose his family in a battle with English people. (Since, Scottland was under the colonial rule of England.)The boy grows up, one day he returns back to his home there. He makes love with his childhood girl (his child-hood friend). The girl is also crucified by the english soldiers.

The fire starts inside him..he integrates his country men.. he fights with passion towards freedom. He is William Wallace.

Once in a while, he is caught by the English and prisoned. The judge with some compassion let him to ask mercy for living otherwise kill him. The last word he wishes to say: "Freeee dommmmmmmm". Then he ends his life.

His followers try their fight after the death of Wallace and win their freedom.

All I am telling about 'Braveheart', the unforgettable film,moments which I enjoyed.

The Bagpiper music, is the most enjoyed. Also, the theme music of the film lures the heart. Then, his inspiring words to his country man, remarkable!

Mel Gibson, I wonder up on his direction and action!

Opening Next Chapter

Hmmm.. Its long gap since I turned the EJB pages. Things go waste because of the discontinuity in reading. This time, I am conscious. I have to finish-up this in full swing.
Some days ago, I had an intension of porting all the JSP stuffs from Tomcat Engine to Sun's App server. But, unable to do due to so many worthless reasons.
Now project.kongu.edu is ready. But however it is not guranteed! Admin may kick off it from the room.
Hmm...Think of it!

NFS- I put a dot .

Almost, my target has been reached. Yes, I finished my part with NFS. Then, Ram has to start!
I am thinking of enhancing the GUI of NFS , like adding some 'dir' & 'file' icons ..and putting some lables like 'Its loading some thing..thinking that you have patience'
Lets, do it when feel free !

Bugs bubble out ...

Today, I observed some major bugs with the project. Safely fixed them ony by one. I should ask people to work on it and release more & more bugs. My part, it is over, the project is almost on the mouth of deadline.
Then, today I read an interesting article. It is Larry Ellison's address at Yale Univ. Brainwashing the candidates to drop out! What he is telling is a case, not a formulaw, but there is some truth.

running towards the deadline.

As usually, I did not make any figure or plan to make this project. One day, I started coding and still keeping it growing. So, I thought this project to be that much simple. But Oops! it takes its giant figure when forsee the deadline.
However, these things are matter of LOC. But, how come to write code & rub the error? Better, people like Google is sitting with me. Then, again the same problem with mobile's file system. Hmm... time has to answer!
The frustrating question is, "Can I make the project run on any Nokia or Samsung Series ? ", hope, if nothing works out, Sun's Simulator will give the remedy.
I have to modify the GUI appearance and make it cool. So, again I have to dig Google.This time, I am very conscious of meeting the deadline with in this week!
Yes, I am running on my feet.

Fight until death - Gladiator

Today evening, I learnt lesson from 'Gladiator'. Usually, I am unable to differentiate the computer graphics and real action involved in Hollywood films.
This time also, but thats the uniqueness with those sort of films. This film has won some 4 or 5 Oscars, the frames prove it.
Story is ultimately ancious tale of roman empire. Maximus as the 'thalapathi' of kingdom. The first battle itself proves the ground. Maximus with guts and braveness sculpts his eternal figure at heart.
Surely, it is an outstanding ...film ...over the history.

Businees at speed of thoughts

Some days back, I started reading BillGate's Business@the speed of thoughts. Then, discontinued reading ..due to ..exams.
Now reading is resumed after a long pause. Gates explains the eseentials of DNS (Digital Nervous System) for business operation. He highlights the importance of 'Paperless office' and the necessacity of 'electronic information processing'.
Also, he speaks of his experience over decades with various IT segments and its impact on other business sectors.
Me too start liking Gates, for his vision, aspiration, dream (apart from Windows and Microsoft)

Expertise needs its own effort.

This days' evening I had a some work to connect Java with MsAccess. I am a new face to Microsoft based technologies and dont know what window to open ... and what to answer for the questions like [ Yes No Retry Cancel].
Yes, it needs some fundo about Windows ...& its subsidiaries. Hmm...I have to think of it .....

Days rushing up

Its running faster like anything...the days merely pass by. Today.. I debugged ..and... bugged some thing.
Nothing more.

Tuesday, February 15, 2005

headache started !

I decided to finish up the FYP with in this week. But it is frustrating.......to write recurring code .... .Today, I tried the 'deleteObject' module. Work started at morning 9.30...situation became cool at 1:30 ... the headache started again at....2.30...ended up 8.30....night !!!

OOps! a single module takes this much time ? No syntax errors but logically some thing collided !!!

Hence, it took 11hrs to be fixed.Now I take breath easily.

Then...., I .....am ....encountered with major technical risk. My project pre-requests MIDP2.0 version mobile with GPRS. Who has this configuration ..? However no prob, simulator is here.

Also, lot of confusion to take a look at file tranfer and content editing ....What could I do if some body requests pdf or doc file format ?

The only pacifying thing in mind is Google. I have not yet asked all these questions to google.

So, hope, he will guide me to get rid of this risk!

What goes here ?

Today got up earlier in the morning. I was rushing on my feet to the lab. Great to my dismay,it was totally shut-off.

I tried to call the admin. Hmmm .. things went wrong. Then, had a nice reading on net at hostel cc.

I registered for google code jam 2005. I have to try a bit atleast.

Oscar cluster installation is stalled due to version mismatch (?? not sure).Hope, things will go smooth.

Then, trying oracle... . My admin has detatched the server route!!!. It should come back soon... . he also promised.

Then, missed the IITk Bitwise contest.... Since, it was to start @ 5'o clock.

Visit to Madurai.

Today evening I had a visit to Madurai with my friend. Its almost 4 yrs since the last visit. I notice some changes when compared to 4 yrs back.

We had a walk towards Meenakshi temple along Nethaji Road. Amazingly, the road was traffic free today. Then, we reached the temple gate and entered inside. I decided to be careful and not missing my friend. I think that this was the first time I was able to go round the temple with out any guidance of any body.
What people spent to wake up this much big towers ?

Madurai corporation has framed a rule insisting that height of any building/hotels/house should not exceed the height of the Meenakshi temple's towers .Thus The temple holds its pristine glories over centuries.

I was able to realize the divinity flowing inside the temple. I sat at Sundareswarar Dhyna mandapam and closed the eyes for moments. Then, we sat at the steps of Theppakkulam, which was located at the center of temple.

" The temple is built by Pandian in ....." so goes an inscription. I strongly believe that these people should be the finest architects and artists.

He is with this soul.

On my perception, he is the most attracting personality. His words woke up me many times from sleep and shapen the mind with new guts . It is alomost 103 yrs since he left the earth. Still he is with this soul and inspiring each and every cells of the mind.

He is Swami Vivekananda, whom I know from my childhood days. At my 6th std, I happened to read the book "Swami Vivekanada's Life & Lecacy". The book introduced me his vision and ethics.

He had steady solid mind and believed at the youths.

This day is again his birthday after 142 yrs. I do remember him at this moment and silently reminisce his words in mind.

"You have boundless energy inside you. You can do any thing and every thing. You are what you think ! "

Make a way, 2005 comes with new Guts !

2004 meets the fullstop. This is 2005, this earth starts its next round. God, bring us good thoughts, be a good teacher, make us perfect humans !
You show the way, we are to follow you !.
